ABOUT SONAS

What is SONAS?

SONAS: Sounds of New Artists Scotland is a nationwide festival for young musicians and bands aged 14-25. From the 19th-28th February 2027, gigs, workshops and artist-led events will happen across Scotland. Big cities, island communities, coastal towns, village halls, grassroots venues and unexpected spaces can all be a part of it.

SONAS is a Tinderbox Collective project, created in collaboration with venues, promoters, youth music organisations and communities across the country. Our aim is simple: to shine a spotlight on local venues and open up as many performance opportunities for young and emerging artists as we can.

By working with venues, promoters and organisations across Scotland, we can create more routes into live music and make emerging talent easier to discover. SONAS isn’t about asking everyone to travel to one place, it’s about creating opportunities wherever you are.

Who is SONAS for?

SONAS is for:

  • Young musicians aged 14-25

  • Bands and solo artists

  • Songwriters and producers

  • Emerging artists looking for performance opportunities

  • Young people interested in developing their music skills

Whether you're performing your first gig or already building an audience, SONAS is designed to help you connect, perform and develop as an artist.

Off stage, our online artist development workshops will create space to learn, ask questions, meet other people making music and build the practical skills that help artists keep moving forward.

If you’re a venue, youth music group or promoter you can organise an event in your venue.

So, bring a song, a stage, a space or an idea. New music doesn’t need to wait for permission.
